The2020plan is based on an optimistic vision. It’s nonpolitical and noncompetitive. It creates a dynamic that focuses on imperative global issues which in turn fortifies our economy.

This is a common sense plan that has no connections or obligations to politics or special interests. The plan is designed to emerge from a sea of distractions and ideas that are inherently flawed from their political roots.

And it’s disturbing that the economic plans that come out of Washington are still using the same old tools of tax maneuvers, borrowing and budget gimmicks that haven’t been working for 30 years. They’re all still: inward focused, rooted in consumption and ignore our enormous debt. Still blaming scapegoats and looking for magic solutions. Really, how’s that been working for us?

So we need to ask if not the2020plan then what? We’re waiting for the next big thing, right? What other plan is going to be the next renaissance for our economy? What other plan is going to put a plug in the debt that we keep accumulating? What other plan is going to laser focus on climate change and global issues? What other plan is going to stabilize teetering foreign nations? What other plan converts global issues into enormous opportunities? What other plan is going to reawaken the American spirit. And what other plan can be embraced by everyone regardless of their politics or ideologies? A tax plan?

And if the 2020plan then when? The2020plan is a call to action. 2020 isn’t just the vision that creates the plan it’s a demarcation line, the year by which we need to get this going. Do we wait 10 or 20 more years going in circles while imperative issues go inadequately addressed? Do we wait for another crisis and use it as go bag? Do we let China step up and grab this opportunity to become the home depot to the world while we settle for becoming the corner hardware store? Do we keep watching our economy split in half while our leaders keep reshuffling the deck hoping for a new result? Do we stay hidden in our bubble? Do you think all the other countries are going to remain in their bubbles waiting for us? What kind of world do we want to give our kids and grandchildren to inherit?

This opportunity is so obvious and it’s just sitting in front of us like a giant peach on a tree.
